She’s been found safe and sound! Thanks to everyone who RT’d
One of my good friends has a cat, Spaz, who went missing Sunday (May 23rd) in the Bells Corners area. She was wearin a blue collar (safety collar, so it may have fallen off) with a small bell on it. She has been microchipped as well. She is about 18 months old, is white with grey/black markings. Here’s a pic:
If you see her, please comment on this blog post, or tweet myself @JenButson or the cat’s owner @berenikakovac
Thanks in advance!
Area: Bells Corners
Age: 18 months
Name: Spaz
Has been microchipped – had a safety collar on (blue) – might have fallen
Guess what today’s post is about – unions! Most recently, this is how I’ve been affected by unions:
- Toronto garbage strike: 39 days. My brother got married in Mississauga during this strike, and pictures were to be taken at a beautiful park. Because of the strike, this permit was cancelled within a week of the wedding because no one was around to clean the park, and no doubt they needed it for a dumping ground.
- Out of the few days I was at my parents’ place, I had arranged to complete my G road test. Tomorrow, actually. Well, as we all know, that union (Steelworkers Union – who gave them that name anyway?) is striking as well. So this test had to be cancelled.
So I pose this question: What gives unions the right to inconvenience my life because they’re not happy with their jobs? If I’m not happy with my job, I quit. So stop bitching about your overpaid, underworked jobs and give me my damn license. What does your job involve – sitting in the passenger seat of a car that I’m driving and criticize my every move. The highlight of this strike is “job security”. Um, sweeties…we just got out of a national recession – nobody has job security.
Everything about the modern day unions is messed up. Oh, let me explain the title of this over-due post. There should be a law that says (especially for government agencies.) within a certain time period (a couple days or so) a mediator should be made mandatory to ratify some sort of deal. The cost of this mediator should be split between both the union (this is what they pay union dues for) and the company.
Tomorrow, something amazing happens. I leave teenagehood and enter the wonderful world of adulthood. The only thing that makes me sad about this event is the fact that my age used to be a “wow” factor. Whenever I did something considered to be overly “mature” for my age (this one’s for you Farrah!), I could say “I’m ONLY 19″. But now I’ll be 20. 20 isn’t as impressive because I should be totally responsible and all that jazz already. I know one day isn’t going to change anything about me, but the number isn’t as impressive.
But with that now out of my system, bring it on 20! Show me what you got!
So I thought I should explain in advance why I won’t be posting anything for a few days (probably till next Tuesday). I’m going to be in the GTA all weekend with the family for my big, and only brother’s wedding. So excited! Just hope the rain stays away.
Ugh…so…I just finished watching the near 12-minute long video by Perez Hilton about how he got “attacked” in Toronto while at the MMVAs by Will.i.am. He shouldn’t have been attacked, it was terrifying, blah blah blah. He was “in fear of [his] life”. But while waiting for the police to arrive…he goes on Twitter and starts tweeting about it! He posts a series of tweets about the attack…saying how terrified he is. If I was… “attacked”…my first thought wouldn’t be to tweet about it. I’m not even going to post the link to his video, because it is an actual waste of time. All the pertinent details are in this post.
Goes to show how social networks are taking over the world…what happened to the good ol’ fashioned angry mob?
God? That’s what this ad for his new season of The Cleaner says to me:
I don’t like the name of this show…it reminds me of the movie Cleaner, about crime scene cleanup. Weird movie. Sammy Jackson or Benny Bratt can clean my place anyday.
Here at the University of Ottawa, Canada’s University, there have been debates between Telfer students and those social science kids. Desmarais is theirs, they said. Our big, beautiful, new business building was all theirs. Well…in their face because it’s NOT, they too are getting a new building (yay, we will finally be rid of them!). However, this new building is really the OLD business building, refurbished. Bahahahahahahaha. Have fun SS.
I won’t lie, the new building will be pretty ballin’ (scroll down for pics). Doesn’t hold a candle to DMS though. It reeks of corporate and executive power. And Starbucks.
Check out more of our elite state of mind here. What a stellar vid.
Happy weekend folks!
**I feel it necessary to note that I had NOTHING against Social Sciences until 95% of them were convinced I had ’sold my soul’ for being in business. So, I will poke fun and laugh…all the way to the bank.**
